Humility

Humility is the virtue of recognizing our need for God and understanding that all good things come from Him. Being humble means living with a heart that is teachable, obedient, and willing to surrender our own way so God can lead us. It also means treating others with respect, kindness, and gentleness — valuing them above ourselves and refusing to act from pride or superiority.
Life often brings us into seasons that humble us. Sometimes God allows challenges, delays, or difficult relationships to shape our character. Not to weaken us, but to prepare us. Scripture teaches, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
When we embrace humility before God and toward others, we position ourselves to receive His grace. Humility opens the door to inner strength, restoration, peace, and breakthrough. It helps us rise above obstacles, move past setbacks, and walk confidently in God’s perfect plan.
Pause and reflect today:
- In what areas do I need to humble myself before God?
- Have I failed in obedience?
- Do I need to seek forgiveness—from God or from someone I may have hurt?
- Am I showing humility in how I speak to, treat, or respond to others?
- Is God asking me to take a step back so He can move me forward?
True humility transforms our relationship with God and the way we interact with others.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift and strength of humility. Teach me to walk humbly before You and to show humility in my actions toward others. Reveal any areas of pride, disobedience, or unforgiveness in my heart. Give me the courage to seek forgiveness, make peace, and treat others with grace and gentleness. Fill me with Your wisdom and lift me by Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
